Apollo Tyres or MRF – Which company will be #1 in the next decade starting in the year 2020?
Apollo tyres has defined plans to increase their manufacturing capacity in car radials and truck & bus tyres with a new plant to be set up in Andhra Pradesh by 2020.
The additional capacity to produce 15,000 PCR tyres and 3,000 TBR tyres every day would take Apollo’s turnover to Rs.20,000 crores per year, thus making it the # 1 selling tyre brand in all segments (except motorcycles & two wheelers), ahead of MRF.
Further investments to ramp up expansion in their plant in Hungary are also on the table.
Apollo is looking at not only volumes but price enhancement solutions, especially in Europe it is working on strengthening its position in the premium segment market.
In India Apollo already has a brand loyalty of a large part of the population as a trusted brand.
Apollo’s tie up with Sachin Tendulkar the master cricketer will certainly go a long way in bringing it up as the brand of first recall in people’s minds.
MRF tyres the current leader in the Indian market has enjoyed their number 1 position for many years , but things are about to change in the next 2 years.
If automobile manufacturers keep pace with the way sales are going on at present, there could be enough market share for both these great companies – that would truly be a preferred scenario.
