ATMA registers concerns over fall in tyre production in India
The Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association in India ATMA has expressed grave concerns over the fall in the production of tyres in India especially at a time when the world automobile industry is finding itself on the verge of coming out of the recession.
The statistics presented by ATMA reveal that both exports & production in the domestic tyre industry have been witnessing a shrinkage in the current financial year & the production of medium & heavy commercial vehicle tyres is down by 2%. This is a segment that adds around 60% of the top-line of tyre industry in India.
Also, a huge drop of close to 11% has also been seen in the light & small commercial vehicle segments in India. Another area affecting the tyre production is the agricultural tyre segment which has witnessed production drops in last two year continuously.
