Bridgestone Canada Inc. to expand its manufacturing unit in Quebec, Canada.
Bridgestone Canada Inc, a direct subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas, Inc. is planning to expand its Canadian passenger & light truck tyre manufacturing facility in Joliette, Quebec, as part of a US$250 million investment plan for next five-year.
The company will enlarge its manufacturing facility in Joliette, which is about 75 kilometres northeast of Montreal, nearly 20 percent of its current size by adding some 200,000 square feet of factory area as it seeks to produce 20,000 tyres per day, up from 17,000 currently. The multi-phase expansion of the facility is expected to break ground in March 2016 and the work will continue until 2023.
It will make the Joliette plant one of the most modern tyre plants worldwide & will help increase plant capacity by 3,000 tyres per day to bring daily production to 20,000 tyres per day by 2023.
The plant will be designed to help Bridgestone meet market demand by producing larger diameter tyres that fit today’s pickup trucks and SUVs, as well as increase productivity and enhance the plant’s global competitive position.
New technologically advanced equipment will be phased in over a five-year period in an effort to help the plant support the significant North American markets & contribute to improved tyre performance.
