Bridgestone – Firestone recalls thousands of truck tyres amid concerns of tyre safety.
Bridgestone-Firestone North America has recalled around 35,000 heavy truck tyres in the U.S.A & Canada. The company says that the recall is a result of the problem that can mean that the tread on the tyre might split from the body causing tyre failure.
The recall will cover 22.5-inch Firestone FS561 replacement tyres manufactured between Jan. 25, 2015 to Jan. 27, 2016. The company says that the recall covers tyres used on trailers. Tread separation can cause sudden loss of air pressure & increase the risk of a crash.
Bridgestone-Firestone says it’s investigating the causes of the problem. It was discovered in October of 2015 when the company noticed an unusual number of warranty returns. The company says it has no reports of injuries.
Bridgestone-Firestone will replace the tires at no cost to owners.
