Bridgestone to open first plant in Russia, Aims at manufacturing 2M tyres/ year.
The tyre making giants Bridgestone has confirmed that the company will open its first ever tyre manufacturing plant in the Ulyanovsk region of Russia in the second half of year 2016. The investments in the project are expected to amount to an approximate of 12.5 Billion Rubles or USD 147 Million.
An official from Bridgestone said in an interview with a leading Russian news magazine that, “At present the equipment assembly & pre-commissioning activities are being completed on the suggested site for plant, once the said activities are completed the required paper work will be completed before starting the building process for the plant”. It was also mentioned that, after reaching its full production capacity which, the plant is expected to reach by year 2019, 2 million tyres are expected to be produced per year & in case there are enough orders the production can be doubled to 4 million tyres. The new facility is expected to create around 800 jobs for regional residents. The plant will be built in cooperation with Mitsubishi Corporation.
