Cabot to increase rubber carbon blacks prices in EMEA.
Effective June 12, 2017, or as contracts allow, specialty chemicals supplier Cabot said it will increase prices on all carbon black products in its reinforcement materials segment sold in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
As the carbon black industry continues to transform, Cabot said it is experiencing significant cost pressures due to high utilization rates, increased requirements to meet new regulations and sourcing challenges for feedstock that is selected for the production of carbon black in the EMEA region. Despite efforts to offset the costs, Cabot will implement price adjustments in the range of €50-80 per MT, in addition to any applicable feedstock index-related adjustments, for rubber carbon black products.
The price increase is necessary, says Cabot, to ensure the company remains a reliable, long-term supplier of carbon black products. The firm will also use the increase to continue investment in new products and applications development.
