Google on lookout for multiple auto partners for its SDC (Self-Driving Car) unit.
The project head for Google self-drive cars has revealed that, Google is in hopes to form alliances with various automakers & suppliers around the world to partner in the development of self-driving cars in an attempt to reduce traffic accidents & increase the mobility for disabled & elderly people
John Krafcik, the Google executive said in an automotive news conference in Detroit that, The Alphabet Inc. is looking forward to announce a few joint efforts between Google & other automotive establishments in year 2016. John said that, “Almost every automaker has been in to speak with Google, if only to understand where they are & the company has no idea as to how many partners they might end up with.”
John’s comments counter the speculation that Google would pick a single automaker as its exclusive partner for self-driving cars. It was reported last month that Ford Motor Co. would announce a joint venture with Google on self-driving. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and General Motors Co. have also said they’re talking with Google about developing self-driving cars.
