Indian tyre makers may look for alternative SBR sources.
With the rumors of Indian Govt. imposing hefty anti-dumping duties on materials from South Korea, Europe & Thailand doing the rounds, the Indian Tyre makers might be gearing themselves up to look elsewhere for the import of SBR (styrene butadiene rubber) it was reported. The US, Japan Indonesia, Taiwan & China who also produce & export SBR could end up as beneficiaries as was revealed by a source.
On 14 January, India’s Department of Commerce issued a notification on the initiation of ADD investigation at the request of domestic SBR producers Indian Synthetic Rubber Pvt. Ltd. (ISRL) & Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). ISRL and RIL started producing SBR about two years ago.
The ADD investigation is expected to look into imports of SBR 1500 and SBR 1700 series.
