The Rubber Board of India’s initiative to increase rubber production is beginning to yield results with natural rubber production in May registering an 8.7% increase against the corresponding month last year, the organization said. Production during May 2017 reached 50,000 tons up from 46,000 tons in May 2016.

In the first two months of the current fiscal year, the figure was 98,000 tons compared to 85,000 tons during the same period last year, for an increase of 15.3%. Based on the growth pattern, the Rubber Board is expecting production to hit 8 lakh tons in the current year. The rubber group is continuing activities to improve rubber cultivation and increase production while reducing cultivation and production costs. It has implemented several activities at the regional and field levels in cooperation with the Rubber Producer’s Society.
