Kenda launches touring and rough terrain tyres.
Kenda tyre dealers and media in Las Vegas for the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show tried out two new Kenda tyres earlier this week. The new Vezda Touring A/S KR205 and the Klever R/T KR601 tyres for the North American market were developed at the company’s R&D center in Green, OH.
The Vezda model is a premium grand touring tyre that replaces the Kenda KR30. The tyre will be manufactured in Vietnam, and meets or exceeds its predecessor in steering, dry handling and braking, wet handling and braking, snow traction, ride comfort, and low noise level. Designed for touring and luxury cars, the KR205 has an optimized all-season asymmetric tread that uses pitch sequencing to reduce noise and four grooves that help to prevent hydroplaning, according to Kenda. The tyre initially will be available in 32 15-to-19-inch sizes in Q2 2018.
The Klever R/T KR601 is targeted at the “extreme” A/T segment and tackles rough terrain without sacrificing ride and comfort, Kenda said. Features include the tyre maker’s T3 triple threat sidewall, new compounding, and a unique flexible tread design. The all-terrain tyre handles off-road conditions including mud, sand and gravel and is pinned for winter studs. Kenda will initially introduce the tyre in 19 R-rated LT sizes fitting 17-to-22-inch wheels. It will be available in Q3 2018 and is also scheduled for production at the factory in Vietnam.
