Kumho plant in USA ready to make tyres for retail sale.
South Korea-based Kumho is hoping to get the certificate of occupancy it needs to make tyres at its first manufacturing plant outside Asia this week.
According to Jim Frentheway, human resource director for the manufacturing plant, the manufacturing plant, which is situated off Georgia 247 in south Bibb County, has already hired about 34o people & expects to soon add to that number.
About two months ago Kumho started making test tyres & will be needing more workers as time goes on. However, the number of workers needed by Kumho in future is still unclear. The plant, which currently has seven buildings that provide a total of a little more than 1 million square feet, is in the Sofkee Industrial Park.
Kumho is expected to produce 4 million passenger & light truck tyres a year, the paper reports.
