Michelin makes €33 million investment in Romanian factory
Michelin is set to increase production of intermediate tyres at its existing Eastern European plant in Zalau, Romania. The French-headquartered multinational is committing €33 million ($37 million) in investments to achieve this, and create 100 more jobs, according to a report from Romanian-Insider.com.
Zalau will then become the only site in Europe to manufacture tyres for the lower end of Michelin’s intermediate tyre portfolio, including its Tigar brand.
Sean Parry, director of the Michelin’s Zalau operation, says: “This new strategic project of the Michelin Zalau Anvelope plant perfectly marks its 40 years of continuous development. I am very proud that the Michelin team continues to contribute to the group’s growth strategy. The plant is now ready to deal with new challenges by setting up modern equipment, launching new brands and implementing a business model that links the plant directly to the client.”
