Michelin ready to take on Indian two-wheeler tyre scene.
French tyre major Michelin seen a tremendous growth in its business in the last couple of fiscal years in the country and it has sensed the trend of increasing market for motorcycles in India. Based on this analysis, Michelin is looking at introducing a range of on-road off-road tyres for bikes, which would cater to customers of such motorcycles, which are on the rise in the country.
Michelin would supposedly launch its Anakee Wild tyre in India, which is a dual purpose, on-road off-road tyre. The tyre could be available in sizes ranging from 17 inches to 21 inches, which are the popular tyre dimensions in the bikes of these categories.
Currently India has a very limited range of off-road motorcycles on offer by companies and these handful products include, the recently launched Royal Enfield Himalayan, the erstwhile Hero Impulse and the more premium Triumph Tiger. Customers do face an issue finding replacement tyres for these bikes in the aftermarket due to dearth of options in the market.
The Anakee Wild is the first ever radial off-road tyre made by the company and it aims to offer stability, comfort as well as a higher tyre life. It comes in the option of two 19 inch sizes for the front and two 17 inch sizes for the rear.
