New rubber compounding unit planned for Pirelli Deutschland.
Pirelli is investing an undisclosed sum to set up a new facility and rubber compound processing equipment at its ultra-high performance tyre plant in Breuberg, Germany. The upgrades will be completed within the next five months, according to industry news reports.
Michael Wendt, CEO and chairman of the board at Pirelli Deutschland, said: “Following the recent installation of a new tyre building machine, the construction of the building and the operational start of the modern compound processing facility is the next step towards preparing the Pirelli plant in Breuberg for future requirements.”
Pirelli named Michael Wendt CEO of the company’s business in Germany in July. He succeeded Frank Delesen, who served in the role for about two years. The Breuberg site produces about 6 million car tyres and 2 million motorcycle tyres per year.
