ARO Equipment, a leading manufacturer of automotive equipment since the past thirty years, has its Indian office on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. Though the factory is present here, its service centres are in all parts of the country. Over the years, ARO has installed more than 7500 equipment in various service centres. It caters to HCVs, LCVs, cars and the 2-wheeler segments. Quality across its extensive range is what MD Virender Malik believes in, as told to us

1. Can you please share a brief history about your company with our readers?
ARO is more than 3 decades old, started in 1978 at Kashmere Gate and founded by our Chairman Sh. O P Malik.
2. When did your relationship with CORGHI start? What is the nature of the relationship?
We sell Complete Solutions for the Indian Automotive Garage Industry, which include tools, equipments, tyre care, Body Shop, Lifts, Painting and Lifting Equipments. Apart from CORGHI we also represent, TECNA, Italy for Spot Welding; SAIMA, Italy for Paint Booth; WORKY, Italy for Exhaust Extraction System; Car-o-Liner, Sweden for Crash Repair System; Waeco DOMETIC, Germany for AC Recycling; Triens, Japan for Hose Reelsn and JTC, Taiwan for Garage and Special Tools.
3. What are the kinds of equipment which you sell in Indian market? Do you also distribute any other company’s products apart from CORGHI?
We sell Complete Solutions for the Indian Automotive Garage Industry, which include tools, equipments, tyre care, Body Shop, Lifts, Painting and Lifting Equipments. Apart from CORGHI we also represent, TECNA, Italy for Spot Welding; SAIMA, Italy for Paint Booth; WORKY, Italy for Exhaust Extraction System; Car-o-Liner, Sweden for Crash Repair System; Waeco DOMETIC, Germany for AC Recycling; Triens, Japan for Hose Reelsn and JTC, Taiwan for Garage and Special Tools.
4. What makes CORGHI equipments special?
CORGHI is the only equipment company which develops, manufactures and markets workshop equipment with own Research and Development and State of Art Factory in Ital, sometimes even providing equipment to our competition in the market. The R&D spend is 11% of the total revenue which is the highest in the industry.
5. Worldwide there are some high end tyre service equipments which have now been introduced. Is the Indian market also adopting these latest technological advancements?
India is surely an upcoming and growing market hence attracts attention from many international equipment companies. However, India has to go a long way in adopting latest in technology and delivering high quality service to the customer.
6. With Corghi we saw some very impressive aligning machines in display. Can you throw some light on the same?
CORGHI recently launched the world’s first TOUCHLESS TECHNOLOGY wheel aligner. The equipment is successfully operational commercially at various tyres shops across the world and even in India.
7. Apart from Changemytyre Pitstops where you are OE suppliers to their stores, which other companies / retailers you are associated with?
Apart from Changemytyre where we currently are the sole suppliers, we are also suppliers to MRF, JK Tyres and Apollo tyres in India. Our equipment is being supplied to service stations of various car majors Ford, Mahindra, VW, Skoda, Fiat, Maruti, Tata, Hyundai etc.
8. What has been your experience working with Changemytyre and how do you see this relationship developing?
Our association with Changemytyre is really exciting and we are looking forward to build further on our relationship. We are pleased to know that the company is growing and we are happy to grow along with them. I am confident that our alliance will provide state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure to their stores resulting in better customer service and satisfaction.
9. There are lot of Indian companies also which manufacture/ assemble tyre service equipments in India. How do you see them as your competition?
Presently mostly major parts which go into the equipment by Indian assemblers of the equipment are imported from various countries including China. Some of the parts are sourced from India too. However, these companies are still behind when it comes to the latest technology. If we talk about state-of-the-art, accurate and reliable machines then European machines are miles above the rest.
10. Please let us know about your after sales service network and capabilities?
ARO is having more than 100 well trained staff at more than 40 different locations in India to provide prompt and reliable after sales service.
11. Do you have any plans to get into DIY category of tools and equipment?
We are looking to grow this segment. We are also working with Changemytyre to bring into the market some very interesting and utilitarian tools and equipments.
12. Last but not least, tell us something about your personal life? When did you enter into this business and what drives you to keep moving ahead?
I did my Graduation in commerce from Delhi University was always very fascinated with automotive industry like any other youngster of my times. Due to my passion for the industry I joined business in 1989, when we started importing various solutions for Indian automotive garage industry. My passion and experience in this Industry drives me to keep on moving ahead in this competitive industry.
