Road safety campaign organized in Infosys Mysuru campus by Atma.
Leading tyre manufacturers under the aegis of Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) carried out a comprehensive 2-day Tyre Care & Road Safety campaign at Infosys Mysuru campus.
Around 30 service engineers from tyre companies inspected the tyres of around 700 cars (2800 tyres) at the campus and sensitised motorists about tyre related safety aspects.
Speaking on the occasion, K M Mammen, Chairman, ATMA, said that the role of well-maintained tyres in overall road safety could not be over emphasised. After all tyres is the only point of contact with the road. However attitude towards tyres still leave a lot to be desired.
Tyre companies, which participated in the campaign titled “There is a lot riding on your tyres” included Apollo Tyres, Birla Tyres, Bridgestone, Ceat, Continental, Goodyear, JK Tyre, Michelin, MRF and Yokohama.
According to ATMA, a well-maintained tyre is a lifesaver on the roads. A large number of accidents can be prevented, if simple steps are taken to maintain tyres. A tyre carries more than 50 times its own weight while its point of contact with the road is just the size of a postcard.
