Trelleborg to begin expansion of Czech tyre factory.
Czech tyre maker Mitas, which is now owned by Trelleborg, will start construction of a new unit of its factory in Ruma, in northern Serbia, later this month, a local government official told media in the area. The expansion will open in January 2018, according to the head of Ruma municipal administration, Dusan Ljubisic.
The level investment in the expansion project has not been disclosed by Trelleborg. Mitas will add between 100 and 200 new employees at its Ruma factory at the beginning of next year, Ljubisic noted. Last year, Swedish tyre and wheel maker Trelleborg acquired the parent of Mitas, Czech diversified holding CGS Holding, for 10.9 billion Swedish crowns ($1.26 billion). Mitas, which currently has 550 employees in Serbia, acquired the Ruma factory in 2008. In 2012 the company invested in a €3.5 million ($3.9 million) expansion. The company also operates three factories in the Czech Republic and one in Iowa, US.
