Tyre burst on Jet Airways flights leads to 12 hour shutdown & delays at Mumbai Airport.
A Jet airways flight from Delhi to Mumbai experienced a technical fault in its landing gear owing to a tyre burst on Thursday night resulting in the shutdown of main runway at the Mumbai airport for 12 hours resulting in delays & diversions for many flights. The aircraft was pushed back to the airline’s hanger yesterday.
A Jet Airways spokesperson stated, “The flight reported a technical fault with the main landing gear after landing in Mumbai at 9:52 pm on Thursday. All 120 passengers & eight crew members were safely disembarked. As of 10 am Friday the recovery operations were completed & the aircraft was shifted to the Jet Airways hanger. The airline had kept the DGCA informed about the event & had extended all co-operation. Jet Airways thanked DGCA, Mumbai International Airport Ltd., ATC & other stakeholders for their timely support.” Officials also said that the flight operations were expected to normalize after Friday midnight.
