Updated motorcycle racing tyre launched by Bridgestone.
Bridgestone says it is entering a new era for grooved racing tyres with the launch of the Battlax Racing R11 this month. The tyre is designed to reduce lap times for supersport and hypersport riders. The advanced compound and construction used in the R11 deliver high performance with extra grip and contact feel on the track, particularly going into corners.
Bridgestone’s Battlax Racing R10 was used as the benchmark for the R11 with focus on enhancing the contact feel. The improvement allows the rider to attack lap time records during the race in a large operating range, Bridgestone said. Rear tyre construction uses an additional GP belt on top of the V-MSB, which is tuned for optimal deformation.
The updated construction achieves better traction and consistent performance throughout the tyre’s life, according to the company. Tread groove positioning on the R11 provides maximum rigidity in cornering and maximum contact during acceleration while ensuring optimal deformation for improved warm up times. Bridgestone’s track testing of the tyre showed improvement versus the R10 in all areas, especially in corner entry, creating consistently faster laps with a 1.3% improvement on fastest lap. The new Battlax Racing R11 is recommended for all motorcycle racing categories including SSP 300, SSP 600 and SST 1000 championship series, as well as all manufacturers’ cup events. Bridgestone will introduce two front sizes and six rear sizes from January to March 2018. All R11 sizes will be available in a medium compound with a soft option available in certain sizes.
