Upgraded waste and recycling tyre introduced by Trelleborg.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems will debut its Brawler HPS Soft Ride, a new solid tyre for the waste management and recycling industries, at WasteExpo in New Orleans, May 9-11, 2017.
In Europe the tyre was shown at Recycling Aktiv in Karlsruhe, Germany in late April. The re-engineered Brawler offers improved operator comfort and longer equipment-life through reduced vibration, according to Trelleborg.
Ditri Zweistra, segment manager for specialty-mining, waste and recycling at Trelleborg, said: “We challenged ourselves to create a solid tyre that matches the benchmark for comfort achieved by foam-filled pneumatic tyres, but which still performed against all other requirements for tyres in this specialist segment. I am pleased to say that we met – and exceeded – our own expectations.” The Soft Ride tyre uses a new cushion rubber compound that increases deflection and shock absorption. It also has a cut-resistant tread compound that is tough, yet much less stiff than competing tyres.
Riders find the tyre more comfortable with no loss of load-index and increased efficiency, even at higher operating speeds, Trelleborg claims. The Brawler HPS Soft Ride was tested by an independent lab and showed a 35% improvement in comfort compared to standard solid tyres in the segment. It was also tested by operators of waste and recycling facilities.
