Akash Tavare is married to Kavita Tavare.

Education: Mulund College of Commerce, Mumbai, M.H. High school, Thane.

Vice President – Materials – CEAT.

Favorite color – Our guess Blue.

Interests: Photography, Cricket, travelling for pleasure.

Akash likes: “Sachin Tendulkar”.

Sachin Tendulkar once said “I never played with a runner in my entire life, even in school, because only I know where the ball is going and how hard, when I hit the ball, something my runner will never know about” – These words epitomize Akash Tavare – a self-reliant person.

As per people who know him. Akash Tavare has been a person with a risk appetite that is higher than average , and this is backed with an ability to structure the parameters of risks and make calculations that test all permutations and combinations related to that particular risk.

This puts him in a small group of people on the globe, who – with their domain knowledge and skill sets ensure that the risk reward ratio from their actions has been beneficial for the company they work for.

He has been with CEAT since 1996 where he started as a Manager-Costing.

In the year 2005-the CEAT share price used to be Rs.100. At that time the rubber price used to be approximately US$1.30 per kilo & he was spotted and developed to assume a bigger role as Head-Materials which he took on from the year June 2006 – the price of rubber had touched US$ 2.20 per kg by now and the share price of CEAT had dipped to Rs.72.

In the year 2011 CEAT share price was still around Rs.100. At that time the price of rubber per kilo had climbed up to US$6 per kilo & he became the Vice President –Materials. Despite the price of rubber in the international markets growing almost 3 fold, this man must have been doing something right that the company’s profitability and in turn its share price had not taken a hit.

In the recent past around September 2015 the price of rubber was at the same levels as in 2005 at US$1.30 per kg share but, the price of CEAT’s share had climbed up to touch a high of Rs.1295.

The moot  point here is that, the history of rubber prices has turned a full circle and Akash’s contribution as a supply chain wizard has had a major impact on CEAT’S share price climbing up 13 times.

There are many other notable names like Mr. Tom Thomas, Mr. Arnab Banerjee and Mr. Dilip Modak in the CEAT team led by Mr. Anant Goenka, whose efforts have relentlessly driven CEAT on the path to become a well-recognized and trusted brand in India- but Tyre Times’  pick of the day is Akash Tavare.
