Yokohama Rubber expanding off-highway tyre capacity in India.
Yokohama Rubber has announced it will expand production capacity for off-highway tyres by adding new facilities at ATC Tyres, the Indian tyre manufacturing and sales subsidiary of the Alliance Tyre Group (ATG), which it acquired in July 2016.
Construction of the new facilities will begin in February at the company’s plant in Dahej, Gujarat, India. The $45.5 million investment will boost annual plant production capacity from 57,000 tons to 91,700 tons by the end of 2019. The additional capacity will accommodate growing market demand and fits the company’s strategy to expand its global commercial tyre business. The Dahej facility began operation in March 2015 and produces ATG’s Alliance, Galaxy, and Primex brands for agricultural, construction, industrial and forestry machinery.
In October 2015, Yokohama Rubber started manufacturing truck and bus tyres at a new US plant in Mississippi. It acquired ATG in 2016 and Aichi Tyre, a maker of industrial machinery tyres, in March 2017 to help expand its commercial tyre business.
